From an old Sangiovese vineyard initially designed for demolition, a particular grape variety was discovered, named later "the Barbarossa". This names derives from Emperor Alemanno who lived for tho years at the castle, which was specifically called the Barbarossa castle.
Barbarossa has a garnet red color tending to orange, with an austere, intense and persistant bouquet , scents of dried rose and sweet violet . The flavour is dry, frank and generous, full of character.
