The Monument to the Vine-grower
Located at the centre of the crossroads connecting the two hills of the town of Bertinoro (Monte Maggio and Monte Cesubeo), the vine-grower looks to the sea, which makes the climate of this territory absolutely ideal for viticulture, holding in his hands the sign of his work (the shears) and the fruit of his fatigue (a ripe bunch of grapes).
The Path of the Grape Harvest
A short climb and a path opens up, above the gardens of the houses of the town of Bertinoro, where it is possible to follow a narration through images, that tell about the life of the vineyard and of the wine that, from growth to production, finally rests in a cool wine cellar adorned with ceramics and printed canvases, (further treasures of Romagna craftsmanship), with Bertinoro in the background.
The Bell of the Albana
A work signed by the artist G. Bardeggia, it is now placed on the terrace overlooking the sea and the Romagna plains. Made to celebrate the recognition of the Albana di Romagna as DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita - Controlled and guaranteed designation of origin) wine (1987), the bell can be rang by anyone who wishes to greet Romagna. Once a year, however, the gesture is performed in a solemn way to begin the grape harvest.
The Historical Reserve of the Sangiovese di Romagna wine
In this place the best productions of the Sangiovese di Romagna of each vintage are preserved, taking into account all 12 sub-areas. It is a sort of library where wine specialists, journalists and winemakers study the aromas and flavours of this vine every year. The historical reserve is introduced by the itinerary “Bertinoro: Sapere di Vino (Bertinoro, the Knowledge of Wine)”, which tells of the millennial link of this territory with viticulture.
The Tribunate of the Wines of Romagna and the Ca 'de' Bé
Born in the Council room of the Municipality of Bertinoro, where every year the tradition is still renewed, as an "act of love for one's land and people", the Tribunate gave life on 2nd April, 1967, among other things, to the first wine cellar of Romagna wines, the Ca' de' Bé, that still preserves in its premises the ceramic tiles with the names of the tribunes.
The wineries and restaurants of Bertinoro
To really enjoy and relish this itinerary, we recommend a visit to one of Bertinoro's wineries, where you can learn about the passion and care of our winemakers, who, by following an agriculture that is respectful of the territory, know how to enhance the colours, aromas and flavours of our native vines: Albana, Sangiovese, Pagadebit, Trebbiano and Cagnina.
