BERTINORO, inside the seminary ice house, Sentiero “Monte dei preti” (entrance from Via del Soccorso).
Special opening on Santa Caterina's Feast, Sunday 24th November
The route "Monte dei preti", located under the walls from Via del Soccorso, right in front of the gate which commemorates the exit of the Bertinoro soldiers who went to bring relief to Ancona besieged by the troops of Federico Barbarossa (1172), until a few steps from the Porta dei Santi, was reopened on 30 April 2015 thanks to the hard work of the members of the "Il Molino - Civil Protection" Association, who for the Christmas holiday period, in close collaboration with the Municipality of Bertinoro, set up a special nativity scene. For the occasion, in fact, the ancient cave was recovered, used in wartime as a refuge and in previous centuries as a passage, ice house and preserve.
Inside was placed the work "Listen to Israel" by the Cesena artist Franca Rossi. The work, donated by the engineer. Gianfranco Traverso at the Interreligious Museum of Bertinoro, tells the story of the nativity of Jesus, the mystery of God who, in a precise moment of time, chose to fully share the human experience. Made with the composition of ceramic tiles of various sizes, partly in stoneware and partly glazed, it is now located in the evocative space of the cave dug into the spungone romagnolo.
The nativity scene can be visited on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 10.00 to 12.00 and from 14.30 to 17.30. For small groups it is also possible to book a visit by contacting Gilberto +39 340 8149125 or Graziano +39 335 6098190. Free entry.
